A Chance to Put Your Best Foot Forward
Thinking about joining Upward Bound?

Well you're in the right place to find out what we're all about. We've been around since 1966 helping high school students to explore their future.

Working from our home base at Plattsburgh State University, Upward Bound is a program that includes an intense Summer experience as well as contact and support that continues throughout the academic school year.

A Chance to Try New Things
Upward Bound is a chance for students to try new things, learn new skills, make new friends, explore new possibilities for the future, and have fun in the process. The thought of going to college can be scary, but it doesn't have to be. Many students at Upward Bound are surprised at how much potential they truly have after experiencing even one summer in our program. They soon realize that they have the opportunity and ability to go to college.

A Chance to Help Others
Besides attending classes, participating in new activities, and meeting new people, students attending the summer program have an opportunity to help others. The activities could be visiting with Senior citizens, keeping our roadways clean, or painting a much-needed fence. In any event, it's an opportunity for our students to give back to the community and better realize how much can be accomplished when people work together.

Upward Bound Mission:
The purpose of the Upward Bound Program at Plattsburgh State University is to establish and maintain a project that generates in low-income, potential first-generation college students the skills and motivation necessary to complete a program of secondary education and to enter and succeed in a program of postsecondary education.
